Hua Mulan is a heroine in Chinese ancient legend, and her story was mainly recorded in The Ballad of Mulan, a poem in the Northern Wei Dynasty. Since Mulan did not have an elder brother and her father was approaching an old age, she disguised herself as a man to join the army for her father. Despite all the difficulties and sufferings, Mulan eventually accomplished her misson and returned in triumph after dozens of years. Mulan’s story and image has been adapted for stage, whose popularity exists for a long time, and her spirit has inspired millions of Chinese to protect their country.
