我喜愛湖。湖是大地的眼睛，湖是一種流動的深情，湖是生活中沒有被剝奪的一點奇妙。早在幼年時候，一見到北海公園的太液池，我就眼睛一亮。在貧窮和危險的舊社會，太液池是一個意外的驚喜，是一種奇異的溫柔，是一種孩提式的敞露與清流。
我常常認為，大地與人之間有一種奇妙的契合。山是沉重的責任與名節的矜持；海是浩渺的遐思與變易的豐富；沙漠是希望與失望交織的莊嚴的等待；河流是一種尋求、一種機智、一種被轄制的自由……
I love lakes. For they are the eyes of the mother earth; they are the flowing deep love; and they are the wonders that exist in human life. As early as I was still a kid. I was always lit up at the sight of Lake of Taiye in Beihai Park. In the old society stricken by poverty and full of danger. Lake of Taiye was an unexpected surprise, a kind of fantastic tenderness as well as a kind of childlike openness and purity.
