Once upon a time, there was a greedy man who passed by a house and saw a large brass bell hanging on the door, which was very beautiful. He wanted to take possession of the bell, but the bell would ring with just a gentle touch. So he came up with a plan. He covered his ears, thinking that if he couldn’t hear the bell ringing, neither could anyone else. Confidently, he reached out to take the bell, but as soon as it rang, the owner was awakened, and the greedy man was caught on the spot. The story tells us that self-deception will only end up hurting oneself.
